The telescope on a balloon to help open the new planet

news_13147_1_MDA team of U.S. scientists says that the telescope, located in a balloon in the stratosphere of the Earth will find many new planets in other star systems. If successful, this scheme could provide surveillance images distant worlds that can not be seen from the surface of our planet.

... The most recent estimates, the scientists were able to detect over 270 planets orbiting distant stars. However, all these discoveries were made by indirect methods, since the planets are too close to the parent stars to get their physical image.

There are projects like TPF, for the detection of distant planets from space, which can be relatively easy to get them undistorted image. However, the budget of this project was so high that TPF has been postponed indefinitely. Today, Dr. Traub and his colleagues argue that the stratosphere can be obtained from the individual images of the planets at a much lower cost.
